Paired reading

We run a paired reading scheme which sees pupils from year 12 and 13, who have a love of reading, paired with pupils in years 7 – 8 who either struggle to find a book they enjoy or find it hard to read a book all the way through.

With the older pupil acting as a mentor, the younger pupils have started to gain in confidence and their love of reading is developing with each session. It has been inspiring to watch these relationships blossom over the past few months and to see the improvements in the reading skills of the pupils involved.
