Josh Keiley – St Hilda’s Chaplain

Chaplaincy Team at St Hilda’s comprising: John, Lydia, Becky and Josh.

Hi. My name is Josh and I am the school Chaplain. I was born and raised in Liverpool and after teaching in primary schools in the north of the city, I became a minister. Since 2016, I have worked as a school’s and youth minister for Bethel Church in Tuebrook. I am married and have two young sons.

As the chaplain, first and foremost, I am a follower of Jesus Christ. I grew up in a Christian home and went to church from two weeks old! But that didn’t make me a Christian. When I was nine, I went to a youth camp where I heard the stories of my friends who had trusted Jesus. As I listened, I realised that, although I knew lots about Jesus, I didn’t actually know Him as a friend. That night, I asked God to forgive me of my sins and make a commitment to follow him. Life hasn’t been easy since then, but it is great to know that I am never alone.

I am delighted to be the School Chaplain. My door is always open for students, staff and parents. I am often found in the chapel running chill out spaces, teaching lessons, presenting assemblies, hosting visitors and working with local churches.

Some of our local churches also have youth leaders working in schools and so it is brilliant to be working with Rachel from St Barnabas, Penny Lane, John from All Saints, Childwall and Lydia, Becky and Ethan from St James in the City.

Next time you’re in school, pop into the chapel and say ‘hi!’
