Welcome to the Library!

The library at St Hilda’s is at the heart of the school. The Librarian, Mrs Hale, has been at St Hilda’s since 2010 and is constantly striving to instill a love of books in all pupils through activities, workshops, competitions and displays. The library has a calm, relaxing atmosphere and is a place where pupils can come at break, lunch or after school to read or study. There is a huge range of fiction, to suit all tastes, a large selection of non-fiction and reference books and even DVD rental. The library is always busy – it’s an ideal place to get together with friends to study.

2026 Reading Challenge

As part of the National Year of Reading, we are launching an exciting Reading Challenge that celebrates all reading, in every form. From novels and non fiction to poetry, graphic novels and magazines, there will be a lot happening this year to inspire, encourage and share our love of reading. Through events, activities and shared recommendations, we will explore new stories and voices together. The challenge asks one simple but powerful question: how many books can we read in a year? Every page counts, and every reader matters, as we read for pleasure, curiosity and joy. Log every book that you read by clicking on the link below.

Liverpool Literary Festival 2025

Two of our wonderful students, Havien and James took part in this year’s Liverpool Literary Festival.

Their short stories have been published in a digital anthology.
The judges were “incredibly impressed by the creativity, depth and skill demonstrated in their submissions”. They received submissions from lots of schools and said that to have 2 commended entries from one school is very impressive. Check out their stories in the anthology below.
